Services

Software Insight provides three services alongside the InsightSuite software: consulting and implementation, training, and managed IT support.

All services are delivered by Software Insight staff from the Milton office. Every engagement is priced as a written fixed quote before it begins.

Every engagement includes

  • A named lead consultant with a direct line.
  • A written scope with deliverables, dates and price, agreed before work starts.
  • Weekly progress notes: what is done, what is next, what we need from you.
  • Documentation of every configuration decision.
  • A closing session: what was delivered and how to reach us after handover.

Custom development

Bespoke modules and integrations are built against the Insight API, quoted as fixed-price work against a written specification. You own the code written for you. Requests that prove useful to other customers are sometimes built into the standard product at no charge.

Most requests are small: a bespoke export format, a tailored dashboard, a connection to an industry tool. Tell us the problem and we will say whether it is a configuration change, a quoted custom job, or already on the roadmap.

Service standards

  • Fixed prices, written before work begins.
  • Weekly progress notes: what is done, what is next, what we need from you.
  • No work outside the agreed scope without a written variation you approved first.
  • Documentation of every configuration decision.
  • Handover only when you confirm the work is complete.
  • The consultant who did the work stays reachable for the first quarter.

How engagements are staffed

Each engagement has one lead consultant from the first workshop to the closing session. Larger projects add specialists — a data-migration analyst, a trainer, a second consultant during go-live — but the lead stays constant.

The lead also writes the configuration documentation, so the person you can name is the person whose name is on the work.

Practical questions about engaging us

Why fixed prices instead of hourly rates?
Under an hourly rate, estimating mistakes become the customer’s budget variations; under a fixed price, they become our margin. A fixed price forces a real process review before quoting, a written scope, and honest conversations about what may prove harder than it looks.
What paperwork governs an engagement?
A written quote you accept, our published terms, and for hosted arrangements a hosting agreement. That is the entire stack — no master services agreement, no statement-of-work bureaucracy, no clauses we would be embarrassed to read aloud. If your procurement process needs specific terms, we read them properly and sign what is reasonable; contract negotiation should never take longer than the project it describes.
Can you work alongside our accountant or IT provider?
Yes, and we usually do. Accountants receive the workpapers they ask for by name; external IT providers get the system requirements, a technical contact, and the courtesy of knowing what is being installed on their network before it appears. An implementation is a busy fortnight for everyone around it, and the professionals beside us deserve the same precision we give you.
